Full Flash Sprint Nexus S 4G to Cricket: Talk, Text, MMS, Internet

At this moment there is no 4G with Cricket. They have already made moves to establish a partnership and have an LTE network. It has been rumored that Sprint is even trying to move away from the Clear 4g network (WiMAX). This means that you will have no 4g service when you flash this phone. I believe the radio gets it's authentication by MAC address so it might be possible to put this on a Clear account. One of my customers said he was able to do this with his Epic that I flashed. He was also a Clear reseller.

You'll notice that yes, this tutorial covers using the $45 or $55 Android plan.

Let it be known that sometimes Cricket says they have put you on the $55 Android plan, but they put you on the All in 55 Plan (5m5). This is not where you want to be.

We offer plan change for free to supporting members. Just use the contact us link at the very bottom of this page. Supporting members of the forum receive additional benefits such as an ESN change on your account via one of our dealers. This makes flashing easy! To become a Premier/Supporting Member, just go to the settings up top and find Paid Subscriptions on the left hand side. Choose a membership level of your liking. Also use the contact us form for any modifications you need made to your account or additional help.

    Things you might need:

    A. QPST (QPST Version 2.7 Build 355)

    B. Nexus S Drivers (
    Samsung

    - these should work)

    C. A Windows PC with either win7, XP or Vista plus your Evo with a USB cord.

    D. PRL (*STICKY* Official Cricket PRL Thread)

    E. CDMA workshop (google CDMA Workshop 2.7 Download)

    F. Anycut (attached below or on the Market), u2nl/autostart which are available at
    www.whiterabbit.org

    , or (my favorite) GreenK45.

    Talk, Text, Internet

    1. Get into DIAG (diagnostic) mode by dialing *#*#8778#*#*. Place USB in modem mode. Exit.
    2. Install the drivers (if you already have Galaxy phone drivers installed from previous devices, you probably won't need to get the Nexus specific ones)
    3. We are using port 15 in this tutorial. For CDMA WS 2.7 it needs to be below 20. It can be much higher with later versions. You can use device manager to figure out what port it is on and to change it if needed.
    4. Connect the device to CDMA workshop. Choose the port and hit connect.
    5. Go to the security tab and use the password section to send the Samsung default password. This will unlock the device.
    6. Go to the SPC section and type in 000000. Hit SPC > write. This will make the SPC easy for you to remember (000000).
    7. Make NV items for your phone at
      whiterabbit.org

. +1 his page cause it rocks. You'll be entering your phone number in @mycricket.com and using your version of CDMA WS (2.7 or 3.x).
    8. Go to the memory tab and send the NV items you just made.
    9. Exit CDMA Workshop and don't send the reset command to the phone.
    10. Open QPST and make sure you have the appropriate port setup in the configuration.
    11. Follow the QPST tutorial located here: QPST Tutorial with Pictures (Cricket)
Use simp (or simple) for authentication and not mob or mob + sim f/b.
    12. Write the settings to the phone and let it reboot.
    13. Now you should have talk, text, and Internet if you are on the $55 Android plan.
    14. Take your phone out of diagnostic mode. *#*#8778#*#* on the dialer and place USB in PDA mode. Exit.

Internet for $45 Plan (root required)

To root follow this thread: http://www.cricketusers.com/sprint-s...html#post17937

    Recommended: http://www.cricketusers.com/flashing-tools-files-programming/7715-android-app-greenk45-no-hassle-3g-internet-market-45-plan.html

    Alternate Method:

Before starting the next step make sure you have the u2nl file in your this folder c:\android\tools and also that you have you autostart.sh file in this folder c:\android\tools
Now go to command prompt and type the following commands,

    cd c:\android\tools <enter>
    adb shell <enter>
    mkdir /data/opt/ <enter>
    exit <enter>
    adb remount <enter>
    adb push c:\android\tools\u2nl /system/bin/u2nl <enter>
    adb push c:\android\tools\autostart.sh /data/opt/autostart.sh <enter>
    Now:
    adb shell <enter>
    chmod 0755 /system/bin/u2nl <enter>
    chmod 0755 /data/opt/autostart.sh <enter>
    exit <enter>
    adb reboot <enter>

Install Autostart from the Market or download it form the bottom of this post and install it. Reboot the phone (sometimes it will take more than 1 reboot) and give the Superuser Permission box a few seconds to pop up. Autostart will be looking for permission. Grant it.

Alternate Method 2 (not recommended due to Market issues, etc):

Install Anycut and make a shortcut to the activity Proxy Settings. That will place a shortcut on your homescreen to these settings. If you put wap.mycricket.com and port 8080 the Internet should work. I've had less than stellar luck with this. Autostart and u2nl are preferred.

That is the end of the instructions for the $45 plan.

    MMS

We are working to develop a better MMS method for this device. Most Galaxy phones are difficult to setup for MMS. Universal solutions like the one from mraabhimself do work.

3G Streaming Multimedia (Youtube/Pandora/etc) - *WARNING* MIGHT NOT BE NECESSARY FOR NEXUS

Enter Data Settings (at YOUR OWN RISK; Dont enter the EVDO sub menu otherwise your data settings may be reset)

*#*#3282#*#* > Edit > Enter MSL (000000 if you reset it to that)

Zero out proxy continue as below-

    Advance > Others> Multimedia
    RTSP Proxy & HTTP Proxy : 0.0.0.0 & 0
    RTSP Port & HTTP Port: 0.0.0.0 & 0

doubt u ever wanna skip a step when following a tutorial sure he put it there for a reason
from what i understand u need to generate a NV file from that website then inject it to the phone via cdma workshop
with the phone number etc from the user when u look at that page itll give u a choice to 2 different cdmaworkshop versions choose accordingly

hmm try removing the drivers when the phone is hooked up and try reinstalling them
when the phone is under diagnostics mode

before you hook up the phone to the comp try opening up the dialer(where u go to dial a phone number) and try pushing *#*#8778#*#* place USB in modem mode it should take it into diag mode then hook up the phone to the comp and try installing the drivers from the link above sometimes in windows 7 itll auto install the best drivers which isnt always the best case make sure you choose the option to install manually just make a simple folder somewhere ur gonna remember and extract the drivers from the link above

if not trying using a different usb cable or try it on a different computer running xp etc
